Move Into Ministry

What does the Bible Say About Ministry?
We all give ourselves to something.  It may be our careers, a sport, a hobby, fame or wealth.  But none of these have a lasting significance.  Serving is a key way to real significance and it is through Christian ministry that we discover the meaning of our lives.

The Bible says that each of us finds our meaning and function as part of His body.  Rom 12:5  As we serve together in God’s family, our lives take on eternal importance.

God has given us gifts and experiences that we can use to grow and develop the ministry of Elim Christian Centre in Cheltenham.  Through using these gifts and giving of our time, we can find purpose and fulfilment.  Together we can make a real difference.

Team Ministry
No ministry can be effective with just one person involved.  Instead it takes a team working together, functioning in different ways, to grow and develop into a successful ministry.

Often we do not get involved because we feel inadequate or that someone else can do the role better than we can.   Abraham was old, Jacob was insecure, Leah was unattractive, Joseph was abused, Moses stuttered, Gideon was poor, Samson was co-dependant, Rahab was immoral, David had an affair and family problems, Elijah was almost suicidal, Jeremiah was depressed, Jonah was reluctant, Naomi was a widow, Peter was impulsive and hot tempered and Thomas had doubts.  But God used each of them and he will use you too, if you give Him the opportunity.

Both Serving and Helping
We want you to find a place to serve where you can utilise your skills, as well as serving in opportunities that just require your help or assistance, into the day to day running of the church.  So you might be a small group leader and also serve in welcoming people as they arrive at ECC.  You might be on the youth or children’s team and also help with car park duties at special events.

Imagine what would happen if each of us found a place to serve in the church.  How much more effective would we become and how much more of an impact would we have in the community.
