New Leadership Announcement:

It is with great excitement that this morning we can announce our next senior pastor at Cheltenham Elim Christian Centre.

Firstly I want to thank you for your patience and support through this process – your prayers and support for the church leadership team has been fabulous and on behalf of the team I would like to say thank you to the church members for allowing us the space and time to ensure we conducted a diligent and thorough process.

The church leadership team have been working with our Regional Superintendent, Simon Foster, and the National Leadership Team to pray and diligently seek the will of God for the next season of Cheltenham Elim church. We have worked together to examine the strengths, challenges and fabulous opportunities that our church and the contemporary church as a whole must embrace in contemporary society and the specific opportunities that our fabulous church offers in a pivotal town in the UK. As such we have worked together to secure a leader passionate for the moving of the Holy Spirit, desperate to see the presence and power of God released to our generations, innovative, creative and courageous to respond to Gods will and purpose.

It is with great pleasure that I can announce that Luke and Samantha Goodway will be returning to Cheltenham to take up the Senior Pastor role.

Luke had a great impact on us when we took him into our employment as an assistant to Gareth, demonstrating a love for Cheltenham and the local area, the connection across the generations within our church and in our local community and a love of the Holy Spirit moving through us.

Luke has been serving as the Senior Minister at Mountain Ash Elim Church for the last 3 years and has seen God move in miraculous ways in a challenging community in the Welsh valleys. Luke has been working with the church to fulfil its call to bring a relevant gospel to the Cynon Valley seeing the church grow from a small community facility with no staff team, to a church encompassing 3 buildings across the valley all working towards one vision with the staff team growing with 2 further leaders added. Luke has focussed his time on intentionally seeking Gods presence and favour believing that God can transform whole communities through his church. His heart for collaboration saw a team mission event being formed where 40 people gave their lives to Jesus.

Luke and Sam have themselves seen God answer their personal prayers with them expecting their first child. Sam now works for Care for the family a Christian charity assisting families with marriage guidance, parenting advice and much more.

Luke and Sam are very excited about joining us and leading the church into its next season.

We are currently working with Luke and Sam to finalise the details of their arrival.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Dave Wellington, for all his support and hard-work during this period without which we wouldn’t have been able to function effectively. Dave will currently continue to work with us in his role and we look forward to seeing what the future holds under Lukes leadership.
