Welcome To Elim

Elim Christian Centre in Cheltenham is a community of people who are passionate about God and who are committed to following Jesus Christ with our whole lives, & to loving and serving each other and the wider community around us.  We are one of over 550 Elim Pentecostal Churches in the UK and Ireland, lead by Chris Cartwright, General Superintendent.

We invite you to join us on Sundays and in the week, connected through relationship, building together with a shared purpose and passion.

Our culture is characterised by worship, the presence of God, family, revival, miracles and healings, honouring others in all we do.

Whether it's your first time or you've recently become a part of the family, we want to welcome you and also help you look for ways to get more connected and involved.

You can do that online by browsing the News, Connect, Grow, and Serve sections on our website.

About Elim

George Jeffreys founded Elim in 1915, in Monaghan, Ireland, and since then the Movement has grown to over 550 churches in the UK and Ireland, and over 9,000 worldwide.

Although George Jeffreys was an outstanding evangelist and church planter, Elim grew rapidly thanks to a move of God characterised by miraculous healings and an explosion in the number of people becoming Christians.

This heritage has guided Elim for nearly a century now, with our leaders and churches consistently seeking to:

  • reach up to God in worship
  • reach out to the community in service
  • share the difference that Jesus Christ makes to lives
  • challenge the trend towards declining church attendance

Our History

The first Pentecostal church began in Cheltenham in 1943. 5 years later the Elim Pentecostal Church took over the responsibility of the church. Numerous open air meetings and tent crusades where held on the sites of what are now Pittville street shops.

In 1954, the church joined the Elim Foursquare Gospel Alliance, the full charity name for the Elim Pentecostal Church.

The church and its leadership has grown to over 150 people, with our key purpose to lead people to a place where they can know Jesus Christ as their Saviour & Lord, and grow in Him.

Our 4D Vision

4d is a four-part vision to build a vibrant, attractive, Christ like and effective church that has a positive impact on our community. This is our vision for Elim Christian Centre, its members and all those who regularly attend.

Draw - each of us to play our part in drawing many to God Connect

Develop - each of us to grow in Christ like living Grow

Deploy - each of us to be actively serving Christ Serve

Dynamic - each of us to rely upon the enabling power of the Spirit, building on the foundation of a devoted lifestyle
